Liquid Mixtures
UNIPHASE™ Floating Piston Cylinder
Liquid mixtures using the UNIPHASE cylinders are gravimetrically prepared with GRAVSTAT™ using balances calibrated with weights traceable to NIST. The pressure within the piston is maintained by pressurizing one side of the floating piston with an inert gas such as helium. The floating piston effectively separates the liquid from the inert gas. Liquid is withdrawn from the cylinder by maintaining a constant pressure on one side of the piston using the inert gas. The constant pressure on the piston prevents the lighter components from volatilizing. When ordering, please specify desired pressure of helium pad. Due to DOT regulations, the cylinder must be shipped in a case. Phase envelope is available upon request.
Advantages
More volatile components are kept in the liquid phase.
Disadvantages
There are essentially no disadvantages to using a piston cylinder.
Recommended Uses
Provides the most accurate and consistent liquid phase calibration standards available and should be used for all demanding applications such as product sales and custody transfer.
