Natural Gas Applications
Eliminate Error in Natural Gas Measurements
Scott Certified Class™ BTU mixtures from Air Liquide are the calibration gas of choice for all natural gas applications. These mixtures are commonly used at custody transfer points when both parties need to agree on the analysis. Dual-certification and guaranteed ±2 BTU accuracy* combine to make these mixtures deliver unsurpassed performance when even a small error in measurement could have serious legal or commercial ramifications.
Scott Certified Class BTU mixtures are the most accurate and traceable gas and liquid mixtures available. They are gravimetrically prepared using our proprietary GRAVSTAT™ blending process. These standards are dual-certified and guaranteed to be traceable to a national or international metrology organization (usually NIST or VSL, formerly NMi) or to ASTM, GPA, ALRS (Air Liquide Reference Standard) or other industry methods.
Accurate Natural Gas Analysis
High quality analysis accepted by both producer and customer are characterized by well-documented measurement, fully traceable to international standards. These international gas standards are prepared by several national metrology institutes such as NIST (USA), LNE (France), BAM (Germany) and VSL (Netherlands). They intercompare their gas standards frequently to guarantee international comparability. VSL is one of the leading laboratories and offers a full range of gaseous reference materials.
Air Liquide calibrates our measurement equipment with various metrological standards. The foundation for accuracy and reliability is then established. These standards for the natural gas industry are stable, gravimetrically prepared multicomponent gas mixtures, of which the constituent mole fractions and expanded uncertainty are listed in a Certificate of Composition.
Exclusive Interlocking Concentration Values™
Certified Class BTU products receive two rigorous, independent methods of certification: one during GRAVSTAT blending and the other using proprietary laboratory analytical procedures. Air Liquide then further ensures the accuracy of your mixture by employing our exclusive interlocking feature: the concentrations determined from both certification processes must interlock with agreement as low as 1%.
